National Programme for Estonian Language Technology (2006-2010)




The National Programme for Estonian Language Technology (2006-2010) is a government supported research funding initiative aimed at developing computational technologies for the Estonian language. The general purpose of the programme is to enable Estonian to function seamlessly in the modern information technology infrastructure.
The programme funds research and development activity which aims at bringing the relevant language technology infrastructure up to date by developing language resources and software prototypes. Emerging intellectual property will become part of the public domain.
Currently the programme funds research and development activity in the following areas: speech synthesis and recognition, compilation of digital language corpora, machine translation, information dialogue, lexical resources and tools, morphosyntactic and semantic analysis, language learning, and language software for the Web.
